After years of hunting all over the South Island of New Zealand and struggling to find the right gear to suit the climate and landscape, our founder Locky Flintoft decided to take it upon himself to design and produce his own gear. 

After a few years of hard work, Tahr Country was born. Tahr Country is all about comfort, quality, durability and camouflage that disappears into our New Zealand landscape.

Merino was a no brainer for the fabric choice in our base layers due to its comfort, breathability and sweat wicking properties. It helps to keep you cool on those warmer days and warm on those cooler days. Perfect for the ever changing climate of New Zealand.
